The Blogger Recognition Award

I am so thrilled to be nominated for something I loved working on every single day.”

Dame Judi Dench

Recently, I was humbled and honoured to receive the Sick With Optimism blog’s first ever nomination for a blogging award, The Blogger Recognition Award! First and foremost, thank you to the incredible Undercover Superhero, Ami Tricker, for her nomination. Ami is a disability advocate and blogger who not only shares her own journey but also helps raise awareness about the “Reality Of” living with other disabilities and diseases through her guest blog series. I have been following Ami’s blog and Twitter account for some time; she is a total delight and inspiration! I encourage you to check out Undercover Superhero and follow her on social media:

The Sick With Optimism blog began as a journal, written during a prolonged health crisis in order to organize my own thoughts and feelings about the experience. As I wrote more and more it dawned on me that, perhaps, some of my experiences and reflections might help others with chronic illness as well as their caregivers and friends. It seemed that such a blog might also help raise awareness about scleroderma (a rare autoimmune disease) and support those with similar symptoms by sharing “hacks” that were picked-up along the way.

I have done some writing in the past, mainly content for websites, articles/blogs, and ads for other businesses. This is the first blog that I have written of a more personal nature; if I were to share two pieces of advice with new bloggers at this young stage of the Sick With Optimism blog they would be:

  1. Write about what you know and care about. Not only will it be easier for you to write, it will shine through in what you have to say.
  2. Remain optimistic… Don’t give up! It won’t always be easy to find the time or the inspiration, but if you enjoy it, keep at it!

Nominees for The Blogger Recognition Award

It was difficult to choose follow-up nominees from the many wonderful blogs that I read! Some I noticed had recently received this award, therefore, I will nominate them in the future (spoiler alert) for another award. Listed below are some blogs that I enjoy and/or find helpful either to myself or to my communities. These are my nominations (in no particular order) for The Blogger Recognition Award, I hope that you will take some time to check them out:

The Blogger Recognition Award Rules

There are some rules that go along with the nomination. It is by no means required to make a post if you are nominated, but here they are!

1. Thank the blogger(s) for nominating you and give the link to their blog!

2. Write a post on your site displaying the award that describes why you started your blog

3. Write 2 pieces of advice you have for new bloggers.

4. Nominate (and notify!) 15 more bloggers that they’re awesome.
